How does requesting a custom song work?
Head to the "Request a Song" page and tell Kitty your story in a short interview - who or what the song is about, the occasion, and the mood or genre you have in mind. Kitty reviews every request personally and writes and records an original song built around your story.
How much does a custom song cost?
A fully developed custom song is $250 flat. That includes Kitty's personal story consultation, original lyrics and composition written just for you, professional vocal recording, and a high-quality download through the customer portal, plus one round of revisions.
Who owns the rights to my song?
Kitty retains all commercial rights to the song, including the composition and recording. You receive a personal-use license - you're welcome to keep it, share it with friends and family, play it at events, and post it for personal enjoyment (like a non-monetized social media post). It's not licensed for commercial use, resale, or monetized distribution (for example, in ads, on monetized channels, or for licensing to others). If you're interested in commercial rights for your song, reach out to Kitty directly to discuss options.
Personal-use license — what’s included?
You’re welcome to:
- Play the song at private events (birthdays, weddings, memorials, anniversaries, etc.)
- Share it directly with family and friends (text, email, private message)
- Post it on your own personal, non-monetized social media accounts
- Keep personal copies and play it on your own devices
- Give the song/download as a gift to the person it's about or for
Not included — this requires reaching out to Kitty first:
- Selling copies, downloads, or licenses to anyone else
- Uploading to a monetized YouTube channel, or any video/channel with ads or sponsorships attached
- Using it in advertisements, commercials, or business marketing/branding
- Licensing or sublicensing the song to a third party
- Releasing or distributing it on streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) under your own name
- Using it in paid or monetized podcasts/content
Do you offer pricing for DJs?
Yes! DJs can prepay a 2-Pack: two fully developed custom songs for $400 ($200 each instead of $250), with credits valid for 12 months. DJ-program songs carry a DJ license - you may deliver the song to your end client as part of your DJ services, and your client receives the standard personal-use license. Kitty retains all ownership and commercial rights. See the "For DJs" page for details.
Can I choose the style or mood of my song?
Yes. The request form lets you describe the mood or genre you'd like, and the more detail you share about your story, the more personal the song will be. If you're not sure, Kitty is happy to choose a style that fits your story.
How long does a custom song take?
A fully developed custom song is typically delivered within 5 business days. Need it sooner? Rush delivery is available for an extra $100 and brings the turnaround down to 2 days. After you submit your story, Kitty will be in touch by email to confirm the details and timing.
Is the Sounds Gallery free to listen to?
Yes. The Sounds Gallery is a growing collection of Kitty's original music, free for everyone to stream.
How do I download songs?
Buy a song bundle or Lifetime Access in the Sounds Gallery. The moment your payment goes through, your music appears in "My Music" - just sign in (or create a free account) with the same email you used at checkout.
Does Kitty teach songwriting?
Yes! Kitty's songwriting course teaches you to write and record your own songs, step by step. It's available right here on the site for $39 with lifetime access, and access is instant - see the Songwriting Course page to get started.
Can I give music or the course as a gift?
Absolutely. Visit the Gift page to gift Lifetime Access, a song bundle, or the Songwriting Course. You can have us email the gift straight to the recipient with a claim link, or get a code to share yourself. They redeem it on the site and it's added to their account automatically.
What is your refund policy?
All sales are final. Because songs, bundles, Lifetime Access, the course, and gift codes are digital goods delivered instantly, we do not offer refunds or exchanges once a purchase is complete. If something isn't working or you were charged in error, email kitty@kittysongs.com and we'll make it right.
